Welcome Cards

One of the best ways you can help us with the upcoming adoption is be making a "Welcome Card" to help us introduce you to our new child. This way, the child can hear your voice, see your face and possibly learn your name. It will be a way for us to help integrate him or her into our friends and family net work.

Here's how you can make a Welcome Card:

For each individual in your family, you will need:

2 copies of a photograph that clearly shows your face (You can print these on the computer)
1 greeting card with a voice recording feature (it doesn't matter what is written on the card)
Tape or glue

Step 1: Tape or glue one copy of your photo onto the cover of the card.

Step 2: Open the card. Record a short message to our child using the voice recording feature. You are introducing yourself to our child with this message. When you open the card, you should be able to hear your voice.

A few tips:

  • If you are unsure how to record your voice on a greeting card, ask the attendant at the store where you bought the card. They should be able to guide you through it.
  • Remember, you won't know the child's name or even their gender, so be general when introducing yourself. If you're having trouble coming up with what to say, here is a suggested script:
"Hello there! My name is Your Name Here. I hope you're having a good day. I love you!"

Step 3: Tape or glue the other copy of the photo to the inside of the card. If you'd like, you can add a sticker over the place where you need to push to hear your voice recording.

Step 4: Mail your card(s) to us or bring them over.

We will be decorating our home with these cards so that our child is used to seeing everyone's faces and hearing everyone's voices. We would love to have one card from each individual, so that it will be easier for our child to identify who is who.

Here's a 30 second video about how they should look when they're all done!
